That is a great change, John.

I work in different projects in a large company. In one area, I am
considered part of the development team and perform Human Machine
Interface (HMI) reviews with the developers. Consequently I get to
review the windows, panels, dialog boxes and error messages whenever
they change. I look for consistency, accuracy and clarity and make
worthwhile recommendations that can be included in the final product.

In other projects, I am given writing tasks and get good cooperation,
but am not part of the team. I write 'after the event'. I can contribute
a lot more to the project's success when I am involved in the
development of the product rather than document a product after it is
developed.

I find working 'shoulder-to-shoulder' with the developers a lot more
satisfying.

regards
Kath
