TechWhirl (TECHWR-L) is a resource for technical writing and technical communications professionals of all experience levels and in all industries to share their experiences and acquire information.
For two decades, technical communicators have turned to TechWhirl to ask and answer questions about the always-changing world of technical communications, such as tools, skills, career paths, methodologies, and emerging industries. The TechWhirl Archives and magazine, created for, by and about technical writers, offer a wealth of knowledge to everyone with an interest in any aspect of technical communications.
Sounds great if you want to compete on the basis of rate rather than
on quality and performance. The average rate for all services seems
to be about $15/hr. I wonder if that's merely to hook customers into
thinking they're going to get a huge job done for peanuts. If you're
charging for tech writing by the hour, do you get to charge for staring
out the window while you're trying to "refactor" the upside-down doc
that you were given? I'd hate to be paid for just keyclicks and mouse
manoeuvers for a job like that.

> Subject: feedback on oDesk?
