Mike's objection seems reasonable to me, and could be easily 
handled--say, by changing "strong communication skills" to "strong 
writing and other communication skills".

The current draft definition appears to be aimed at those people who 
think writing is all that we technical writers do. I don't think it does 
  enough for the greater number of people who have never even heard of 
technical writers.
