Personally, I dislike this way of looking at things, as well as
"work/life balance" and "work to live vs. live to work." All
of these imply that life and work are different things. My
work is part of my life, and I won't sacrifice enjoyment or
satisfaction in one part just so I can finance other parts and
seek them there. If I find that I am regularly not enjoying
my job enough that I occaisionally find myself thinking that
I might just go on doing it even if I became fabulously
wealthy, or that my job is crowding out the other things
in life that I enjoy that much, that's my first warning sign
that it might be time to look for another one. How many
hours a week that might take is one of those "it depends"
things.
