Well... because you can. Because it's a place to share with family and
friends. It's an outlet for your creative writing desires. It's a place to
share your hobby creations with other fellow enthusiasts world wide. It's a
place to share life's experiences with others who can gain from what you
learn along the way. There are a myriad of reasons why. It's social
communication and networking and relationships, just in a different venue
than the neighborhood coffee shop. Not to mention the many reasons
corporations are now blogging.

I could probably think of so many reasons why, rather than why not. But
that's my preference and admittedly not everyone feels the same way.

A good book, not new, that does a good job explaining blogging is "Naked
Conversations" by Robert Scoble and Shel Israel.
