To the many writers who have responded to my post, I just wanted to say
thank you for your generosity! I now have an amazing amount of
information/resources/advice--and I feel much better about "being nuts to
take this on."
Yesterday I met with the owner for the first time in my new capacity as tech
writer, and I was so much better prepared for the meeting because of your
postings.
My next meeting--and the true start of my new job--is next Wednesday, so I
have a week to lay some kind of initial foundation. Kathleen Parrott
suggested a few books to read, including JoAnn Hackos' "Managing the
Documentation Process" (thank you, Kathleen). Does anyone have other
suggestions for good books for a beginning tech writer?
Again, thanks to everybody who posted--you have already helped me
immeasurably.
