My favorite quote of this thread: "Hear, hear! I'm surprised everyone's been
quick to criticize. It's a blog for goodness sake!"

If I could get that on the back of a T-Shirt, I would. (With the words "I'm
blogging this" on the front.)

I don't read listservs as often as I should, but Daniel Ng clued me into the
discussion here. I enjoyed reading this thread. I'm not about to argue that
my post isn't shallow or lacking support. I was pretty bummed about losing
the recording, and maybe that added to my despair. But I previously served
as a chapter president in Florida, and I've seen the same mood month after
month for several years. Now that I'm no longer a volunteer, I asked myself,
why am I doing this?

The blog is a liberating, interactive format. If you write a good post, you
get quoted and passed around. But when it's a bad post, people say that's
okay, it's just a blog. I do try to post interviews with tech writing
luminaries on my blog every couple of weeks. You can listen to the latest
