Not in California. The EDD in CA interviews Unemployment Insurance (UI)
applicants before approving a claim UI benefits. During an interview, I was
asked about why my previous job ended. I wondered what it takes to have a
UI claim denied. I did know that quitting without just cause and being
fired for certain reasons would get a denial. I wanted to know what reasons
for being fired would do it and the agent said that a claim could be denied
for theft by the employee, criminal acts, and acts that impact the health
and safety of others. (There are probably more reasons.) So I said, "so if
I threw a chair at my boss, then my claim would be denied?" "Yes." "What
if I had a good reason to throw the chair?" ...
