Hi John,
If you double click the layer (Layers tab), that opens a Layer's Style
dialog with the first entry in the Styles column "Drop Shadow." Click the
check box and walla...you got a drop shadow. The drop shadow dialog that
opens allows you to manipulate the drop shadow.
With that said, like Char James-Tanny, I use SnagIt if I'm creating drop
shadows for a technical illustration (although I try not to use them in tech
work).
BTW... I was in your neck of the woods on Saturday. I dropped of a portfolio
at the Vermont Center of Photography in Brattleboro and my wife and I took
the long way back to Essex (Burlington area). Nice country.
