Hi Heather,

The answer is Yes and NO...

You must protect your form fields. However, you can use section breaks
to enable inserting pictures manually in certain areas.

In a separate email, I will send you a sample of how this is done.

Then you simply protect the sections with the form fields.

This may be a downright silly question - but is there any way to create

Word form with functioning checkboxes and text fields without having to
lock/protect?

We are trying to create a document that a user can fill out but also
insert
screenshots and images as needed.
