The odds are actually quite good. I began my tech writing career as an
American in Israel, and I have a good friend here in Metro DC who began
her career the exact same way -- we even apprenticed under the same
senior tech writer in Israel, though at different times and in different

Israel is ideal for native English speakers with the prerequisite
writing and organizational skills but no prior experience in tech
writing. All of the industries that we discuss on this list are very
strong there -- software, aeronautics, pharmaceuticals, medical devices,
etc. -- and there will never be enough skilled English writers.

There's also a cultural quirk that works to your advantage as a new tech
writer in Israel: Businesses there tend to be short on hierarchy and
long on innovation.
