1. After first making certain you have them should you ever want to
reinstall, how about hiring an able-bodied geek to uninstall all the crapola
applications you'll never use on your system?

2. Make a point to learn about and use Windows' *Restore Points*.

3. And why not install a well-revered anti-malware (a.k.a., spyware)
utility that works in conjunction with your anti-virus software to help keep
your system uninfected? Something like AVG. (I loathe Norton and am not too
terribly fond of McAfee.)
4. You DO have Windows Firewall (see Control Panel) engaged, do you not?
(Not the ultimate, mind you, but it's already onboard.) And your hardware
router has built-in firewall protection, right?
