Entirely dumb, of course. I wasn't approaching the question of interword
spacing, though, just page count.

Of course, this raises the question: what tools do publishers use?

And, this raises the question, is there a difference in readability for
fully-justified versus ragged-right text based on genre, such that
academic texts are more readable if fully justified but technical
documents are less readable?

And then, of course, there's the question of online text: how do
browsers and Acrobat handle fully-justified text?

We need some research here. Anyone go to a college with usability as a
focus or maybe this is up to the STC?

Cheers,

Sean

Is FrameMaker (as used in Sean's experiment, which seems to empirically
(!) contradict Geoff's theory), a "smart" justification tool or a "dumb"
one?
