No, it isn't. It may or may not be a good example of why Word 20007/Vista
isn't a good tool. I've avoided Word 2007 because they've made an absolute
mess of the menus.

In previous versions of Word, I've only seen things like this happen when
other users have access to the template that I've attached to. As a result I
generally clone my own personal copies of group templates and keep those out
of harm's way.

I've also had Frame and Quark docs go wonky on me, so I don't believe Word
is unique in this respect. I've used Word all day every day for the last ten
years at least and have not seen this or anything remotely like this happen.
Some of my documents are over 400 pages, with lots of graphics.
