The analogy is amusing, but it's not sound. While you may find a user
who responds to "Turn around the monitor" by pirouetting as he circles a
stationary monitor (while the tray of his computer's DVD drive is loaded
with his cup of coffee), even such a user cannot mistake "Turn off the
monitor."

Good suggestion. The Germans' separable verb (or perhaps Mars) wins over

the Latinate preposition! Robert's second form suggests that I make
pirouettes as I pass my body around the stationary monitor.
