IE and FireFox differ a bit in the way they implement margins and padding. This can cause the indentation issues you describe.

You may need to set the margin and padding for list items to zero in your CSS, and then use text-indent to apply the indentation.

That's just a guess, since I can't see your CSS. But zeroing out margins and padding is a great place to start.
