I'm 3,000 miles away from New York (in the San Francisco Bay Area), but
might I recommend the STC?

I checked their chapter listings for New York state,, and there's a Long
Island chapter and a New York Metro chapter. Oh, now I see that John
Posada is the contact, so obviously he knows about this :-) But
none-the-less, I'm going to take the opportunity to put in a plug for STC.

(Yes, like any organization, STC isn't perfect, but it is an excellent
resource, and chapters are much stronger when more people participate.)
