Many years ago, I was at a conference and someone I knew from various
Internet discussion groups mustered the courage to ask me how I
managed to find the time to do all that writing. Cracking wise, I said
that I subcontracted all my work so that it wouldn't get in the way of
my real life. <g> Well, apparently I wasn't the only one thinking of
this option:

It's not in the best of taste, particularly if you're suffering under
the current harsh economy -- the Onion isn't exactly renowned for
tasteful humor or avoiding kicking people while they're down -- but
