Same way here in Houston over the time from Nov '08 to Nov '09 I was unemployed. There were some recruiters I could barely understand, too, and I think I have a good ear for accents. I learned not to jump into an interview with the first caller - I looked up each agency first to see who had the best benefits (these were all contracting positions).

I have a great job as an employee now, though. May all of us have a much brighter and successful 2010, no matter how we measure it.

Yeah, I received five phones/emails for the same job with in  about fours of
one another, and then another two or three the next day.  Most of the
recruiters were not located in the US. It got to the point  where the
recruiter would call and read the job description to me, and I  would ask
them: "Is this Job with Westinghouse?" "It stopped most of them  dead in
their tracks. They were like vultures circling around  carrion.
Unfortunately, I was the carrion.
