eLearning tools - Adobe Captivate

As I embark on my virgin eLearning tour, does anyone have any helpful tips for me? Resources, tips, common pitfalls, etc.
I'm dipping my foot in the pool with Adobe Captivate as that's what I currently have. But is this the best tool or is Authorware a better choice?
