I've always claimed that my double major in Philosophy was the perfect
training for becoming a software tech writer.

Software systems don't really exist ... sure, everyone SAYS they're zeroes
and ones on a whirling magnetic disc, but has anyone ever SEEN it?
Philosophers are well trained in the ability to hold complex,
self-conflicting systems of non-corporeal concepts in our minds. After
all, once you can assimilate Kant's theories on Phenomenology, what
challenge is there in doing the same thing for an operating system?

My 2¢,

John Garison

Sarah Stegall opined:
> Wait a minute. PHILOSOPHERS make more money than tech writers? In what
universe? I was a Philosophy major! My professors persuaded me to change
my major because "you can't make a living as a philosopher".
