Hi Kathleen,

I can't speak to current recommendations, only to my own experience.
When I prepare a document that I know is going to be touched by many
hands (e.g. for translation), I prefer SEQ, ListNum, and AutoNumLgl
numbering. Even those who don't understand Word styles are usually
willing to copy and paste the relevant fields, without asking a lot of
questions. And when they insist on typing in numbers by hand, it's
relatively easy for me to restore the required fields.

On the other hand, for documents that largely stay in my own control, I
think style-based list numbering is the bee's knees.

Happy Friday!

Dan
