Beagle Brothers Software (in the days of the Apple ][) connected the
lines on the back-cover barcode with a black bar marked UNBREAKABLE
(like a men's comb).  On the back of one of their manuals, printed
upside-down, was the caption "Intergalactic intelligence test. Turn
page to begin."  Little touches like that made the manuals
entertaining, while not interfering with clarity.

Personally, I've restricted any attempts at humor to barely-legible
data in examples and screenshots where "dummy" data needs to be
invented anyway. For example, I might invent clever names for the
files listed in an "Open File" dialog.
