The traditional definitions of abbreviation and acronym should both exclude "K9," because there is neither a "K" nor a "9" in the word "canine," and because it isn't a real word it shouldn't be considered a hompohone, which is a word that has the same pronunciation as another word but a different meaning. 

The closest term I can think of is "pseudo-acronym," which refers to a construct that is used as if it's an acronym but cannot be expanded to some form of the word it's intended to represent.
