Hi Kevin,

I was hoping someone would bring this up. I've been playing with this
technique and I think it offers some great results: Facelift Image

The only requirements are server side scripting (PHP with GD support)
and javascript, but it removes Flash from the picture. Plus, some
implementations cache the images for you so they don't have to be
recreated every time.

There are Wordpress plugins that use this technique as well. I haven't
found one that's easy, but they all work.
