Thanks very much for your help and advice, Janice. Some of the awkward
constructions were in quoted speech (interview replies) which I
normally avoid rewriting as much as possible. Still, rewriting the
awkward ones did solve the problem, and since the article goes back to
the author and the source for review, I think that should cover it.
