No, I suppose you can't. The question then becomes, what are you willing*
to do with someone else's documents without their permission?
Now flip it around. Imagine that you wrote a how-to book about tech
writing in your spare time, and submitted it to a publishing house. One
of their editors worked on it, and that same editor is looking for a
job. How do you feel about the editor using samples of your work without
your permission?
I wouldn't mind as long as they submitted it as an example of their EDITING and not of their WRITING. But if I found out they used my WRITING, then I'd be concerned. Unfortunately, we can't trace our writing in print, like we can online...
