Could be just me but I think by persistence they mean tenacity and follow-through, not necessarily persistence in regard to others and probably not persistence in regard to interviewing others. I.e., getting information out of them. I.e., turning them upside down and shaking them. :)

I saw an ad on another e-mail list, posted by a tech writing company
that's looking to expand. They listed the usual technical skills
(databases, networks) and corporate buzzwords ("team player, determined
to succeed"), but also... "Outstanding interviewing skills, persistence,

Being *politely* persistent makes a huge difference in this line of
