Good Morning,

We were just given a used laptop.

That's a good price! I remember you were looking for a laptop.

How do I get that laptop on our home
wireless network? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

You need to connect it to a router. There are various ways to do this, but all of them depend on what type of networking the laptop has. Modern laptops have built-in networking and I do not know about all of the hardware involved, but the connection is usually wireless now. Most use WiFi, but some use outdated WiFi protocols. Bluetooth is available, but I do not know how well that works with networking. USB can be used for networking. Older computers might only have a networking port for networking with a cable. Hopefully, the laptop has USB 2.0 at least, otherwise you will likely be hunting for legacy components to network the laptop.

Provide the laptop manufacturer and model with the OS, so people can offer you reliable information.

In the meantime, look at your laptop (the computer ;-) ) and see if it says anything about WiFi or if it has a Bluetooth indicator. If not, then look at the back to the laptop and see what ports it has. See if any of those ports look like they can be used for networking or make notes of all of them and post that to the list.
