I hate to say this, but it sounds to me like you need to remake the entire template from scratch in Word 2007, and then rebuild the document based on the new template.

I have a feeling that will work (and mean no quick and dirty solution, but a robust one for the future).

By the way, do try to delete all the bookmarks and see if that helps. You can always put some back in where needed.

Deborah

Yep, tried that too. (Sorry, should have mentioned that.) No luck. In fact, the more I try to fix this document, the worse the problems are becoming. I swear that this template must be 15 years old if it's a day and it's been modified by dozens of users who have little idea about styles or Word's many quirks. Look at it sideways and something else breaks!

Unless someone has another suggestion, I may have to raise the white flag on this one. I hate to give up but it seems pointless to waste any more time on it as other tasks pile up.

I appreciate the replies, both on and off list.

Joyce

At this point the only thing I can think of is to try the old trick of copying everything out of the document except the last paragraph out and pasting it into a new doc and see if that does anything.

I tried copying/pasting a working caption and that didn't help either.
Previously I tried moving the table to a new position, which did help with a few of the tables earlier but this time, no joy. I even recreated the table on the previous page and that didn't fix the problem either.
I'm completely stumped how THAT didn't work!
