In my senior year of engineering college I interviewed with a company whose
careers brochure had listed technical writiers as one of the types of
professionals the company employed. When I told the interviewer my primary
area of interest was technical writing, he told me that they usually
preferred for their technical writers to have prior experience in a
technical field.
