You might consider converting the text box to a frame. IMHO, frames are much more stable in their behavior.

Ah, but they're actually the Callout Shape, not a text box.

I erroneously referred to them as "(text boxes)" because their layout options do seem so similar. But they're actually callout shapes, that when right-clicked provide a "Format AutoShape" option, and on that dialog box's Text Box tab, you can select Format Callout to select the leader line style.

Nevertheless, I can convert it to a Frame, so I tried that. And the behavior seemed to get even whakier, but I'm sure it's just because I haven't grocked the behavior of frames' text wrap options.

I'm sure there's a way to make the rest of the elements stop moving every time I move the converted-to-frame object, but since it doesn't have the callout leader, it's not an approach that I want to go with at the moment.

But I'll keep it in mind for when I really do want to revise text boxes in my doc (such as on cover pages where I didn't want to deal with how many points to use before a title paragraph in order to vertically center it on the page).

Thanks for more Word learning,
-Monique
