As to the issue at hand, I think if its a works machine its worth just pointing out the potential costs of making a mistake. It doesn't matter if he knows what he's doing. Why take the risk? It could cost him his job and/or the company a lot of money if something goes wrong and its down to his negligence, like installing a trojan while logged in as Admin. Surely he's not so arrogant he doesn't understand minimizing risk is just good practice?
