"Documentalist" is older than dirt.

I had it on my business cards in the '90s, and THAT was likely stolen from somebody on this list or on CopyEdit-L or some earlier incarnation. Maybe even from a BBS... :-)

Wow, I am impressed. When you make up a new word you go whole hog.

Actually, yes, any tech writer who works with software developers has to be a mind reader to some extent.
