I use Mac Screenflow. It's 99$ and I've had pretty good results making both
step-by-step tutorial videos and more slick marketing style promo videos
with music and (limited) effects.
After several years of making videos, my advice to you is:
1. Record the audio reading one sentence at a time, leaving pauses of a
couple of seconds between them.
2. Record the video in segments.
3. Edit the sound and video as needed.
Recording the video and audio at the same time was a nightmare for me, so I
soon stopped doing that. More time editing beats more time recording by a
mile, and the interface in Screenflow is pretty simple. Lately I've also
been doing videos without the mouse pointer and just emphasizing
action/focal points with zooms and callouts. I really like the results.
