I'm sure there is some official definition (maybe for lighthouses) but I use:

Flash - very short on period, possibly high intensity
Blink - short on period compared to off period, up to 50:50 ratio
Pulse - fading up and down
Occluded (?)- on period longer than off

In our company, we have several different ways of describing LED
indication.
We seem to be uising blinking and flashing for the same - a pattern where
the LED repetedly turns on and off.
We seem to use pulating or a loooong sentence with fading in it for any
pattern where the LED varies in intensity but does not turn entirely off at
any point.

In cases where we can't add a drawing, how would you best describe these
two patterns?
