For me, the Index has always been the preferred route. Done right, it's also the most efficient way to locate what is needed.

Many years ago I was tasked with "giving users the search". What I did was create a really good index. Then I created WebHelp from RoboHelp and in my Skin editor I used the Search button to open the Index. No true "search" was actually provided.

Life suddenly became good and people were happy. Go figure
