I was not being unsympathetic earlier, Kathleen. As the lone technical
writer - and a contractor at that - in a building full of engineers, I have
seen my share of travails. (Like the 20-40 minutes that was added to my
daily commute over the past 7 weeks while I dodged multiple - and poorly
managed - road construction projects that did nothing to improve the roads
that I commute on to my eyes.)

I just don't think that what I put up with every day - in a job that I
greatly appreciate having in this economy - is anything special. Everyone
around me is carrying similar burdens. An example is director who hired me
(sight unseen, I might add) who has at least a 1-1/2 hour daily commute and
insisted on coming back to work just 3 weeks after having serious surgery.
The woman deserves a medal. Others around me have shouldered similar
challenges. We're all in the same boat here...which is probably the point
of the original discussion anyway.

Happy Friday everyone!
Deb K
