I agree that multiple style references are in order, starting with CMoS.

>From there, either the old Sun Microsystems guide or the M$ guide for
detailing step-by-step matter, identifying window components and such.

And then I maintain my own internal guide for everything else.

Don't overlook Strunk & White's *Elements of Style*, as well as *Garner's
Modern American Usage *as useful references*.*
And then there's this:



And if you'll be helping with any marketing collateral, AP style often
trumps CMoS regarding such matters as (not) using a serial comma.
