If you have 1099 income, you have to pay estimated taxes quarterly.
It's not complicated.

One company I contracted for required an EIN and documentation that I
had a sole proprietorship registered with that number. That had zero
impact on my taxes. I was still self-employed and it was 1099 income.

I'm working on a few small freelance projects and my ultimate goal is to go full-time freelancer, but I'm not there yet and I want to avoid complicated multiple-times-a-year tax filing if possible, especially if my income is going to be sporadic and supplemental for the time being. Thanks!
