I don't notice any difference in performance between my 17-inch
late-2011 MacBook Pro and the 15-inch mid-2014 MacBook Pro I have from
work. GeekBench doesn't see a big difference, either: 3172 / 9769 vs.
3899 / 12821.

The main difference I notice between the two is that I have to keep an
eye on the disk space on the work Mac, since it has only 250GB. A lot
of the software I test is bloated, so I have to offload things like
ISOs and VirtualBox images to an external drive. The 1TB drive on my
own Mac is only half full, and if I needed more space and/or higher
throughput I could upgrade to a larger drive and/or an SSD.

What I could really use is a fiber Internet connection.
