I have worked as a technical writer for about seven years, mostly in
software development/business analysis environments. I am at a point in my
career where I'd like to find a way to brand myself with some specialized
and marketable skill.

I am considering trying to get good at one the following: ITIL, information
security or CRM. I am also considering just concentrating at business
process modelling, for instance acquiring expertise in UML or the ARIS tool.

With your knowledge of the industry, do you guys have a strong opinion on
good career directions to pursue? I don't necessarily need a ton of money,
but I want to be able to ensure new contracts.
