In that case, what's trending right now are interactive guided tours and embedded videos. And I presume that rather than just showing examples that *look* "wow", you want examples that actually work well in terms of user experience and functionality.

So you should probably start with the big industry players, like Google (try the Google Maps guided tour) and Facebook (Facebook allegedly has really well-designed smart guided tours.)

Actually, I will be teaching a course and it's supposed to have a section on "cutting-edge" trends in technical writing/comm. Ideally, the examples would things that make people go, "Wow!"
