I understand they need to take off my contact info but thatâs about it. Iâve talked to some agencies and theyâve said that especially with people in communications fields, they know better than to do anything else.

You are lucky to have found a home. I have had two homes: Microsoft and Intuit but neither lasted as long as I would have liked. Intuit was a wonderful place to work but now they only focus on the current quarter of profit and do knee-jerk planning based on that as do many companies and they are focused on developers who do automation and wonât hire âcreatives.â I never thought of myself as creative, but as necessary because without documentation and training, what do you have? A mess? They actually wanted to keep me at Intuit but turn me into a developerâ

I am looking for my forever home until I retire but I think it is something I need to keep creating in small increments as a contractor until that time.

I've suffered from recruiters who rewrote my resume to suit their format. In our line of work, it's common to have overlapping dates in your resume. Recruiters like chonologic order, so they would change my work dates to suit their format.
As it turns out, some of these so called "recruiters" were not qualified to represent me anyway.
I'm happy that I've landed a role with a company that's growing.

Thanks Chris, I recall that when we were chatting last year you mentioned that.

Because of the Microsoft lawsuit, WA is really tight on using them to work on contracts. In CA is was very easy for me to work as my own business.

I used to get client referrals too from Seattle when I first moved to CA but a lot of the people who hired me have died off...

I feel like I am starting over again in a way. It isn't true but it feels that way this week. ð

I'm in Gene's camp, although it's OK by me if me clients are across the continent.

But I'm *so* done with recruiters, with only two NorCal-based people ever actually helping me to get a gig. The rest were all playing the numbers and didn't give two hoots about placing me somewhere I really fit. As it happened, those two recruiters were anomalies within their own firms, in that they actually took the time to get to know me a bit. Attempting to work with others in those same firms proved fruitless.

Likewise, today I don't waste my time with packagers. I find my own assignments or assignments find me. Like M&Ms, there's "no chocolate mess."
