You create a separate style for the first item in a list, and make numbering in that style always begin with "1." Then use the regular list style for the rest of the items in the list and let it do its default continue numbering.

Good morning, guys.

I'm fine tuning my Word styles. Is there a way of defining an ordered list
to always start at 1 when appearing after a heading style? I'm getting real
tired of the Restart at 1 menu choice. macros or VBA please.
