If I don't know someone or see things like Hello sir, I always look at the email address (not what it looks like it says, but what it really is). Like lin -at- linlaurie -dot- com could really be joehackercreep845798377 -at- gmail -dot- com -dot- You have to click on the email address to see the real address. The majority of hackers but not all, seem to favor the gmail accounts.

I heard of a new thing for cell phones, Androids in particular. Some apps will sideload (never heard of this before) not download viruses. You can google it. There's a way to turn it off for iPhones in settings but not sure of anything else since I don't use an Android. I would google it for more info if you are interested in learning more.

Another thing I'm seeing is that I'll get texts from numbers I don't recognize with all kinds of lovely incentives to click on something like a bitly link. I clicked it one time and it looked like it was starting to download a virus so I turned my phone off and blocked the phone number.

I keep getting different versions of this text but I don't touch it any more, just keep blocking and deleting it. If you don't know the number, don't click the link!

While we are working all day, it is the job of these people to spend their days figuring out how to crack our devices. You'd think that with the knowledge it takes to hack, they could go get a job in tech and have a good life. I must just be naive.

Itâs a type of spam Iâve seen before. For a time, my co-workers and I received spam emails with the names of other co-workers as the sender. But the sendersâ email addresses were wrong. The email footers were off too, but still surprisingly convincing for spam. We noticed, of course, because we know each others footers. But a receiver outside our company might get fooled by this type of spam.

I have not received such spam on my personal email addresses. I assume itâs a method of sorts specifically for targeting businesses.

Not clicking links in unexpected emails is always a good idea of course.
