I'm Deany M. Cheramie, a recent subscriber to this LISTSERVE and a Ph.D.
student in Rhetoric (and, unofficially, Technical Communications) at the
University of Southwestern Louisiana. In response to the "gateways" question
I would like to say that as a user of InterNet and many network news sources, I
find thgat using network news is not only easier on the system administrators,
but it is also easier on the users. I enjoy having mail (even snail-mail; it
makes me feel special 8-) ), but I also like to have the option of deciding
_not_ to deal with all this information coming at me. Network news gives me
the option, while subscribing to a list doesn't.

deany -at- ucs -dot- usl -dot- edu no .sig; that`s my choice
