Karen Kay asks:
> What is a documentation plan?

The documentation planner should work closely with product planners to
obtain a product overview and define the following: the scope of the
project, information objectives, the types of written or online
documentation to be included in the product library (including page count
estimates), the audience for the documentation, the number of writers
(and others, including editors, graphics artists, and production staff)
required and their responsibilities, the documentation schedule (with
drafts corresponding to product development schedule), dependencies, the
source material to be used, the key subject matter experts, documentation
review process, usability and quality guidelines, design guidelines,
style and terminology guidelines, translation requirements (if any), and
cost estimates.

Hope this helps.
