1. (b) I think (...) it should be "think" although I'm not sure what I've
been hearing all my life.

2. (a) I suspect I've heard it both ways and haven't been bothered
about it.

3. My childhood and adolescence were spent in the Midwest
(Minneapolis and Kansas City), although I've since lived in Baltimore,
Iowa City, and Montreal. Note that I haven't heard the expression
much (maybe not even at all) since I moved to Montreal.
