Chuck --

You made the unsupported claim that:

>the arms most self-righteous gun fanatics
>want have nothing to do with a militia, or with
>protecting them against their government.

Are you referring here to hunting rifles or to
AK-47 assault rifles? The former are not
controlled by the new crime bill, but the
latter are. Don't AK-47s have a lot to do
with militias and with protecting oneself
against a government that uses organizations like
the the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms
(a really hard-partying group!) to lay siege
to men, women and children belonging to a
minority religious group?

The Founders of our Constitution left extensive
written records of their debates. From those
records it is crystal clear that the aim of
the 2nd Amendment is to prevent the growth of
governmental tyranny by allowing the people to
arm themselves so that they would never stand
helpless before force tryannical. In order
to stand up against such force, one needs to
have state-of-the-art weapons.

Also, you engaged in the very practice you decry of:

>Taking bits and pieces out of documents,
>such as the Constitution
>or the Bible

So you see, Chuck "self-righteous" fanatics
come in all shapes, sizes, colors, sexual
orientations, and political persuasions.

...And have a heck of a nice day.
